Ecological Restoration
Whether as a standalone project or as part of a larger holistic land stewardship plan or permaculture design implementation, one of the main goals in our work is striving to restore degraded landscapes and damaged ecosystems. Examples of restoration work includes: native habitat plantings, constructed wetlands, beaver dam analogs/in channel check dams, riparian habitat edge restoration, wildflower meadow restorations etc.
This work involves in depth observation of natural systems existing on the land at present coupled with ecological and historical research of the site. Project planning, implementation and maintenance services are offered. A focus is put on simple & low tech, non-toxic & zero chemical processes, techniques and strategies. As with our land stewardship planning, in our ecological restoration projects we are happy to partner with other local conservation and restoration agencies to help land stewards access resources available.
Land Stewardship Planning
Our Land Stewardship Plans provide you with the knowledge needed to become a good steward of your land. Land Stewardship Plans include mapping of the different natural areas of the land and outline best management practices for the unique features existing there, and may include strategies for woodlands, wetlands, streams and riparian zones, meadows, farmland, recreational and open space, formal gardens, and water management.
Plans can also include a timed layout of best practices and actionable tasks for ecological restoration projects, wildfire preparedness planning, soil health management as well as economic and enterprise planning. We are happy to partner and collaborate with local conservation and restoration agencies and organizations to help land stewards access assistance, education and grants to continue the work on their land.
